Le Grand Fromage is a telepathic Roquefort creature linked in comic 18 to a French biological weapons project. His mould controls women, turning them into Fromagents whose uniform appearance conceals a loss of individuality.
His attack on Scott and Discordia aims at the golden apple. Discordia’s capture brings Scott together with the freed Ghislaine for a rescue at the Musée d’Orsay. Fromage’s escape ends on a café table, where customers eat him and his control over the agents ceases.
His absurd physical vulnerability contrasts with his ambition. Like the apple, he embodies a threat to free choice; the ending turns attention back to the people recovering their independence.
