The DoubleSign Twins

David and Doreen, the DoubleSign Twins, are conjoined (“Siamese”) twins joined at the hip - a brother and a sister, British subjects of Japanese descent, orphaned in their teens. Between the two of them they have mastered aikido, judo, jujitsu, karate and kung fu, plus the secret “Wax Tadpole” technique. Their name nods both to Suzanne Grace’s “doublesign” astrology and to the DoubleSign brand.

They first meet Matchman in London, fishing his unconscious body out of the Thames after the Beefeater dumps him there. While he spends a week amnesiac in their care, they nickname him “Red” and assume he is a drunken circus acrobat - until the words “rugby match” jog “Match… Man” loose and his memory returns. They join the VALentine Complex, and later serve as his (gleefully unreliable) interpreters in Tokyo, cheerfully insulting him in Japanese while pretending to translate. David is the brash, Cockney-mouthed half; Doreen the more polite one - though no less cutting in the original Japanese.

Appearance. Conjoined at the hip - David (the brother) and Doreen (the sister) - teenagers of Japanese-British heritage, in matching skintight costumes.
